Postpartum Expectations
Expectations vs. Reality in Motherhood
We all have plans. We plan our pregnancies, our births, and our postpartum recovery. We think we know what it’ll look like. But the universe doesn’t really care about our plans.
I know this all too well. My journey into motherhood—like motherhood itself—was full of curveballs and potholes I never saw coming. I’m naive like that. I tend to focus on the good, the positives in everything. I’m the girl who asks “Why not?” instead of “Why?” Who jumps in headfirst without checking how deep the water is. And for the most part, that usually worked out for me.
But when my life veered off course, I struggled—hard. And in the process, I learned something important: unrealistic expectations can play a huge role in whether or not we end up with postpartum anxiety.
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when things don’t go as you imagined, especially when you’ve got so much pressure to get it right. This is where letting go of control becomes so important. But how do we support ourselves when everything feels uncertain? How can placenta pills help us with this?
Placenta Encapsulation Could Be Your Secret Weapon
Enter placenta encapsulation.
More and more moms are choosing to encapsulate their placenta postpartum. Taking placenta pills can support postpartum healing, help stabilize those out-of-control hormones, and yes, even reduce the risk of postpartum depression or anxiety.
I know what you might be thinking: “I thought placenta pills were just for the super crunchy moms? You know, those natural types?” Well, that stereotype isn’t exactly accurate. In fact, many of my clients are hospital birthers who plan for and enjoy their epidural, not the patchouli-smelling hairy-armpit moms you likely imagine. Most moms find me not because they are searching “placenta encapsulation near me” on Google, but because they are looking for ways to heal naturally and feel more like themselves after they give birth.
No Guarantees, But Definitely Benefits
Now let’s talk about the "placebo effect. Yeah, it could be that. But my thought about that are, so what? If placenta encapsulation helps you feel better, why does it matter if it’s psychological? The important thing is that it supports your recovery, both physically and emotionally.
But in the spirit of transparency, I want to be clear—placenta pills aren't magic.
More Than Just the Pills: A Holistic Approach to Postpartum Healing
I offer a "More Than Just the Pills" package because I know that the pills alone aren't the whole picture. Postpartum recovery is a multi-faceted journey, and holistic healing comes from a combination of physical, emotional, and mental support.
